As a newbie myself, two books I've found very useful are:
Running Linux - by Matt Welsh and Lar Kaufman
A Practical Guide To Linux - By Mark G. Sobell (with a Foreword by the man
himself, Linus Torvalds)
Also I've found the installation guide that comes with Redhat very useful,
though that all depends on what distribution you're using.
>probably should have read all the old msgs. before shooting this...
>Any ideas of a good book for Linux begginer's. Giving info on how to install
>and admin it. I am just having problems installing X-windows stuff.
