HELP: IBM PS ValuePoint S3 86C805

My Configuration:
PS Valuepoint with S3 86C805 chip on the motherboard
2048 K video ram
att20c491 ramdac

Has anyone had any luck with this type of configuration?

I can run 800x600 with the 16 colour VGA server, but I can't get
the SVGA server or the S3 server to run. My monitor is 17", so I'm
hoping to find a way to get X running with more colours and a higher
resolution.

The SVGA server doesn't recognize most of my dot clocks, and thinks
I have only 64K of video ram. It will only let me run at 320x200.

The S3 server just locks my system with a blank screen. I've tried
many suggestions, and have not been able to get it to work. I tried
this with patch level 5. The S3 server locks the system completely,
you can't event use the CTRL-ALT-DEL combination to get out of it.
I'm forced to power off.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, or if
anyone has any suggestions.

1. Help: X11R6 on a IBM PS/VP with S3 86C805 and an EIZO monitor

I am trying to configure my X11 S3 accelerated server for several days now. All
I get when I run X is a blank screen. Not even the keyboard sequence Ctrl-Backspace
gets me out of that. The system hangs completely.

Does anyone know something about that?

My configuration: IBM PS/VP 486 DX2 66
                  S3 86C805 video chip with a
                  AT&T 20C49 (hope that correct) clock chip
                  EIZO F-351 T 15" Flexscan Monitor

I was using XF86config to generate the configuration file. Clock speeds
have been autodetected (X -propeonly).
