flashing on movement

I recently switched from using a framebuffer X server to the SVGA server
because the framebuffer did not provide the image quality or refresh
rate I wanted. I'm using a SiS 86C215 video card and I've configured
XF86Config correctly for my monitor and this card. It works and the 85Hz
refresh rate looks great with a still screen. But whenever anything
moves on the screen it flashes strangely. Everything flashes about 2
inches to the right of where it should be on the screen, then goes back
to normal, really anoying. I had to use xvidtune to align the display
properly and it looks like it's refreshing where it origonally was, then
imediately yanking it to the position I set with xvidtune, but that may
not be the case. It does this with all resolutions, color depths and
refresh rates, and none of the options for my card help. Would disabling
kernel support for the framebuffer make any difference? If anyone can
help I'd really appreciate it.
