Compaq 5200 support ?

Post by Operato » Tue, 13 Feb 1996 04:00:00

I have imstalled Linux 1.2.3 Ok on the Compaq 5200, but cannot get
X windows to work. Is it supported ?.

When I run SuperProbe, it recognises the cirus chips, but they are unknown.

Is the a configuration that will work - if so how. If not what is the likely hood of
it being supported in the future ?.

Regards
David

I have a compaq elite 5000, and by setting chipset to "clgd6235"
have it running in 800x600 and 256 colors. If you need a copy
of the XF86Config file drop me an email.

1. RedHat 6.0 and COMPAQ Deskpro 5200 video problem

I installed RedHat 6.0 in a Compaq 5200 with 64Mb memory computer.
Installation went fine.  Linux installation program successfully probed
the Video Card (S3 VirGE/GX) and Compaq Monitor V75.   However, after
Xwindows(KDE) started, I did not get a clear desktop image. The cursor
has a large rectangular box beside it.  When I moved any windows the
content of the window get scrambled.  I had to refresh the screen to see
it.  I saw vertical line when I type or move objects.
I had tried 'xvidtune' to adjust video parameter without any sucess.
can any one know how to fix it?
