I've just setup Linux (slackware 3.1) and I've got a problem when
setting up XFree86.
Basically, it seems to be a problem finding a resolution that the monitor
can sync to. I get about 6 seperate miniatures of the screen , and try
as I might with the ctrl-alt +/- keys I can't get a resolution to display.
The modes are 800x600, 640x480 and 640x400 and the monitor is basically
a standard VGA/superVGA type (800x600 works fine in Win95). The chipset
is a Western Digital/Paradise 90C30 type with 512K of RAM. I used the
xf86config program to set up the configuration file.
Can anyone suggest some possible frequency values I could place in the
config file? I'm a bit puzzled as the WD chipset is pretty bog standard
so there should be few problems. Even telling the XF86Config that I'm
using a standard VGA monitor (thus limiting to 640x400) results in a screen
that isn't syncing..
Cheers,
Gavan
