Somebody has offered to sell me a tape drive. It's new and packaged in a
DIGITAL box for sale by DIGITAL. It is supposedly ~500 Meg in size. When I
looked at the drive I saw that it's made by Tandenburg. It takes QIC tapes
that are the same size as the QIC 150 tapes that my old Archive Viper drive
takes. The tape that comes with the drive didn't have any recognisable model
number, but it looks to be of the DC6150/DC6250 style of tape (bit obviously
large capacity). Does anybody know what this drive is, is it a 525 Meg drive
that takes DC6525 tapes? Is it a reasonable drive to use with Linux? Also
would it be able to read (and hopefully write) the smaller DC6150 and DC6250
tapes (I have about 25 of them I don't want to trash)?
Cheers.
