pcmcia drivers

Post by ric » Sun, 09 Mar 1997 04:00:00

I am looking for drivers for Megahertz ethernet/modem combo card <pcmcia> for
linux 2.0 . . . supposed to be an SMC chipset . . . but the standard kernel and
modules can only find the modem part . . . anyone have this card working?

thanks
Rick

1. PCMCIA: no pcmcia driver in /proc/devices

I've installed pcmcia support for my thinkpad but when I try to reboot I
get following messages:

/lib/modules/2.0.35/pcmcia/i82365.o: unresolved symbol
apm_unregister_callback
/lib/modules/2.0.35/pcmcia/i82365.o: unresolved symbol
unregister_ss_entry
/lib/modules/2.0.35/pcmcia/i82365.o: unresolved symbol register_ss_entry

/lib/modules/2.0.35/pcmcia/i82365.o: unresolved symbol CardServices
/lib/modules/2.0.35/pcmcia/ds.o: unresolved symbol CardServices
cardmgr[42]: starting, version is 3.0.4
cardmgr[42]: no pcmcia driver in /proc/devices
cardmgr[42]: exiting

and after those...

SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface
SIOCSIFBRDADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface
SIOCSIFNETMASK: No such device
SIOCSADDRT: No such device
SIOCSADDRT: Network is unreachable

I think these second messages are due to the fact I have a PCMCIA token
ring card and not an ethernet one and, not having PCMCIA support loaded
before, Linux cannot recognize my token ring card and try to start an
ethernet adapter.

Any hints?

Thanks in advance and ciao, Andrea.
