Duel Matrox Milleniums

Duel Matrox Milleniums

Post by Bruce Varn » Sat, 11 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I have the Metro-X server which "supports" using multiple
(up to 4) Matrox Milleniums in the same machine to have multiple
screens. However, when I try this the X server hangs. I can run
fine with a single card, and even with both cards installed as long
as I configure the server for 1 screen.

The only error message I note is one at boot - I get a
message "PCI device not recognized" or something, and the Millenium
doesn't seem to show up in /proc/pci. I get the message twice when
two cards are installed, and not at all if I install a Diamond
Stealth instead.

Please send responses via e-mail as my news server
is flaky and only about 25% (my estimate) of posts get
through.

                Thanks,
                        Bruce

1. Duel Boot w/Duel Drive

I have Win95 on 1 HD and I just bought at 6.4 WD HD to use just for
Linux.

I've heard that in order for Windows to boot, the HD must be Primary and
not Slave on IDE channels...is this true??

What I wanted to do was make the new HD the Linux Drive on Primary 1 and
boot LILO from that MBR and have Win95 the Slave on Channel 1.  Will
this work?

Basically, what I want is to flip the system on and have a prompt for
which OS I want to use....what's the best setup for this to happen,
given my 2 HD config.
