Dell Optiplex GX1 ATI Rage Pro Turbo AGP integrated video card

Having trouble with X Free 86 and the integrated ATI AGP video card on a
new Dell Optiplex G1 system (Pentium II 266).  Had fun blasting NT off
system at work to make box into Linux machine.  Problems came with the X11
install portion.  Metro-X doesn't work (screen is scrambled when it
displays the graphics config).  X-Free 86 doesn't work either for ATI or
standard SVGA/VGA settings.  Has any one played with this card?  Would hate
to turn it back into a windoze machine.  I hope the integrated chip doesn't
have a special driver since it comes in a Dell system.

Onboard video works fine with RH5.1 -- running two GX1 400 here.
Use Mach64 server.  BTW, the onboard 3c905B requires 3c59x.c version 0.99E.

The Rage Pro is supported in the latest Metro-X, can't say about XFree.  I
had problems with the AGP cards locking my system(s) up hard.  To fix that,
I used `Option "xaa_no_color_exp"' in the Device section of the config file
and no more problems.

Good luck.

XiG supports the ATI Rage Pro Turbo AGP in all modes and resolutions fully
hardware accelerated.  Since you have a really fast machine get a really fast X
server.  Try our free demo at www.xig.com under the tech. support department.

1. Jittering problem ATI Rage Pro/Dell Optiplex GX1

Hi,

I have Dell Optiplex GX1 with integrated ATI Rage Pro 3D AGP, RH7.0. My
problem appears
like jittering of the picture   which is most visible on the window
borders. It seams like
there is some relation to the disc activity too. This is not only Linux
problem, I had it with
NT4 too but it was solved by installing Dell supplied driver. W2K
doesn't have this problem.
The problem persist with both XFree 3.3.6 and XFree 4.0 servers. Aside
for this problem
servers run fine. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Daniel
