is it possible to read a tape created with a ibm-as400 and write the
tape with linux.
we have to exchange data with this medium !

It's probably possible, if you're transferring something simple like a
single source file or a fixed record length data file that does not contain
any compressed (binary) data.

Do you have expertise on either the as/400 side or the Unix side?  I can
find my way around the as/400 side, but I don't know how to read raw data
from a tape under Unix.  Maybe it's as simple as dd.

Anyway, if you have someone knowledgeable on the Unix side (to read the
tape) I can probly help you to create the tape on the '400.  Let me know.

Hello, netters:

 Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this question.  We received
 a 9 track data tape.  The tape was backuped from a Data General system.
 After two weeks' struggling, we got noting but funny binary code.  Is there
 any way to retrive the data from tape?  Many thanks!
