That's the exact same make/model I have in front of me as I write this
[but, being a computer supplied by where I work, I'm currently working in
windows]. The AGP card is an OEM variant of the STB Velocity 128 (riva
chipset, I believe) The cheapbytes redhat 5.2 worked like a charm setting
it up for X, but with the minor annoyance of white "static" when moving
windows in X.
Unfortunately, "even though" it is a "name-ish" brand
(Dell/Compaq/Gateway), more often than not what you get is whatever the
manufacturer could "put together" that week -- we ordered something like 30
identical units for where we work, but not wanting to "swamp" the guy doing
the installation, we asked that they ship a few each week -- you guessed
it, the first week we got 233's w/4gig drives; next week the 233's were
"obsolete", so for no increase in price the new CPU's were 266's; oh, and I
hope you don't mind, but we've sent 8gig drives instead of 4gig drives and
still didn't change the price... [the lucky people who waited until the
LAST computers arrived got 300mhz machines because the 266's were
"obsolete" -- talk about a busy MONTH!]
As to video under X, I'm getting at least 1024x768 -- my eyes really can't
handle 1280x1024, no matter WHICH OS I use...
