problem with Floppy in RH 6.1

Post by Chris Nelso » Mon, 29 Nov 1999 04:00:00

Every time I try to use the icon for my floppy drive I get the message

mount: wrong ffs type, bad option, bad superblock on dev/fd0, or too
many mounted file systems.
I have tried using it with 2 freshly formatted floppies from.

And When I go into linux conf and try to mount the drive I get the same
message..

Any ideas
Thanks
Chris Nelson

it's set up as a different file system. You need to edit /etc/fstab and put
the file system of the floppy disk you are currently using.

Hi, you have probably set the floppy device in linuxconf as ext2.  Change this in vfat, rightclick on the floppy icon on the desktop, go to properties, device and change the entry for filesystems from default in ext2.
When you then mount a dos formatted disk select 'mount' when you rightclick the icon; when you mount a linux formatted disk, select 'mount ext2'.
Good Luck
