Zip 250 and parallel port:

Post by root » Thu, 13 May 1999 04:00:00

I'm getting closer. I have formated a zip 250 disk I thing. I can't
access my drive though. I use rmmod lp and then insmod imm which engages
my zip in RedHat 6.0 and assigns it sda4. The problem I'm having now is
that sda4 is not accessible. I can't mount it because it does not have a
mount point. It also is not read as a block device either. I'm not sure
where to go at this point.
thanks for all your help.

p.s. I've read the pages at torque.net.

1. Iomega Zip 250 parallel port drive.

I'm having a spot of bother installing an Iomega Zip 250 parallel port
drive. I've been through all the HowTos etc...

My configuration is as follows :

Red Hat Linux release 6.0 (Hedwig)
Kernel 2.2.5-15 on an i686

I believe that all the relevant SCSI support and the imm module are
loaded as they should be. When I try and mount the disk however I get
the following message :

mount: the kernel does not recognize /dev/sda4 as a block device
(maybe `insmod driver'?)

When I try and format a disk I get the following :

Unable to open /dev/sda4

I would be very grateful for any tips or help with this.
