ASound Express PCI Card

ASound Express PCI Card

Post by Young4er » Wed, 19 Jan 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

I just purchased an ASound Express PCI sound card and would like to know
if it is well supported under Linux.  The ALSA webpage does not seem to
mention such a card.

TIA.

Hmm.  Try plugging the card in, then doing "cat /proc/pci" and seeing
what you come up with.  It may be that the chipset on the card is
supported--for various reasons, companies often don't put the exact
chipset names on the package on even on the actual card.  I've seen both
ES1373 and CS4258 chips recognized as ES1371 and work with that driver,
for example...

Once you've done the cat /proc/pci and seen what the kernel thinks your
cound card is, see if you can find that info either in
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/Configure.help or on the ALSA website.

HTH,
