ide-scsi seems to hide true scsi devices?

I have both a scsi card and a ATAPI CD drive that gets recognized with
ide-scsi. My problem is that I can't seem to see the SCSI devices; the
CD drive is the only SCSI device seen.

There seems to be only one device, the ATAPI CD:
[root]# cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
  Vendor: CD-RW    Model: CDR-5W48         Rev: VSG3
  Type:   CD-ROM                           ANSI SCSI revision: 02

The boot seems recognize the real scsi devices (from dmesg):
Kernel command line: ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi
ide_setup: hdc=ide-scsi
...
PCI: Found IRQ 9 for device 02:0a.0
scsi1 : Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 6.2.8
        <Adaptec 2940 Ultra SCSI adapter>
        aic7880: Ultra Single Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 16/253 SCBs

blk: queue c1a0fa14, I/O limit 4095Mb (mask 0xffffffff)
  Vendor: HP        Model: C5110A            Rev: 3701
  Type:   Processor                          ANSI SCSI revision: 02
blk: queue c1a0fc14, I/O limit 4095Mb (mask 0xffffffff)
  Vendor: HP        Model: C1533A            Rev: A907
  Type:   Sequential-Access                  ANSI SCSI revision: 02
blk: queue c1a0fe14, I/O limit 4095Mb (mask 0xffffffff)
scsi : 1 host left.
Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 48x/48x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
...

Here's my /etc/modules.conf:
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias usb-controller ehci-hcd
alias eth0 ne2k-pci
alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx
alias sound-slot-0 cmpci
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L

Quote:>/dev/null 2>&1 || :

pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S
Quote:>/dev/null 2>&1 || :

pre-install sg     modprobe ide-scsi # load ide-scsi before sg
pre-install sr_mod modprobe ide-scsi # load ide-scsi before sr_mod
pre-install ide-scsi modprobe ide-cd # load ide-cd   before ide-scsi

When I try to run the scanner, whose SCSI ID is 2, I can't get sane to
recognize any devices. It was working before I moved from redhat 6.2
to 8.

I'd be grateful to anyone who could provide help ...

Thanks,
Alex

1. using ide-scsi & scsi devices

I have a ide CDROM and a scsi CDRW. I have set up the ide CDROM as ide-scsi
and can mount it as /dev/scd1, the scsi CDRW is /dev/scd0.

When using Eclipt CDRoaster it is looking for the LUN and Channel, device
numbers For the CDRW this is 0,0,3 what should it be for the CDROM? Doing a
detect reader / writer shows the CDRW but not the CDROM.
