If the scanner connects to your computer's parallel port you are almost
certainly out of luck. Linux favours SCSI scanners and will work with
many varieties. I use an Agfa Snapscan 310 very successfully. There is
some support for certain parallel port scanners, HP being a case in
point, but very few.
If your Paperport is SCSI, you will need SANE, the Linux equivalent of
TWAIN. Have a look in your Linux distribution's ftp site for the file,
or the SANE web site, http://www.mostang.com/sane/ - Visioneer may or
may not be supported.
