Really? I've never heard of that, if 15%, is it a K6 instead of K6-2?

Anyone tell us the details?

The K6-2 only comes with 3dNow!, the K6 does not.  You can NOT get a

running on my good old Asus P55t2p4 430HX based board.

There is NOT a K6-2 without 3dNOW.  That is the whole point of the K6-2,
It is just a k6 (nexgen core) with 3d now extensions.  You might have a
K6-3D ( K6-2's name before k6-2) which possibly has a different cpuid.
Wait till Intel comes out with their version of 3dnow (katami) it will
rock the shit out of anything we have seen yet.

You mean they will get things right this time? Or is this just the
usual "MMX Version 2 will be much better than MMX Version 1, with
a lot new features, bugs removed, and it will most definitely beat
anything that our competitors have made in the past, are making
now, and will make in the future" marketing garbage?

I wish people would stop arguing with things that don't exist.
_Where_ can I _buy_ a MMX Version 2 PentiumII?

Btw: wait until the first EV6 boards hit the market. Dropping an Alpha
21264 into the CPU socket (instead of an AMD K7) will rock the shit
out of anything you have seen yet.  Anyway, since these beasts don't
exist, they are not a choice right now --- I'll get a BX board with a
PentiumII :-( EV6 will hopefully be a choice when I get the next
system.

Same for PII with MMX Version 2 --- it might be a choice, but
it has to hit the stores first.

Christian

P.S: you know that MS-Windows beats Linux, right? Just ask Billy,
he'll tell you.

1. Any advantages running AMD K6 vs. AMD K6-2 w/3DNow!

I've starting to build a new Linux box to replace my aging 486/33. I was
wondering if there were any advantages of choosing an AMD K6-2 w/3DNow! over
the older AMD K6? I won't be doing anything in 3D and the 100 MHz bus isn't
that important to me. Are there any other advantages, like if AMD improved
the FPU? Thanks!
