Very Computer

I have recently purchased a 17" Optiquest V775 monitor (by
viewsonic).  
 It works fine with XFree86 3.2 (with a 4MB Matrox Millenium video
card).
 However, the color is rather dull and dim, this is not what I expected
 from magzine articles that I have read.  Maybe, I am getting a
substandard
 monitor?  Does anybody have that monitor, what you do you think about
the
 monitor?
