IBM ServRaid and Adaptec 294x

Has anybody been able to RedHat 6.0 or 5.2 installed on an IBM 704 box.
When I autoprobe, the two Adaptec 2940 controllers are discovered, but
no devices are seen. How do I activate the ServRaid controller? Novell
and NT use a driver called ISP if this is of help.

1. Q: dds/3 tape drive on 2nd channel of IBM ServRAID Controller

Hi solaris (x86) specialists,

I encounter the following problem:

We installed Solaris (x86) 2.6 on an IBM NetFinity 5500 Server
with a raid controller called "IBM ServRAID 2". It has 2 SCSI Channels.

One channel hosts the disks which form a RAID 5 drive. This one works
fine, no problems. In fact, the whole Solaris (x86) 2.6 installation
works good.

But (alas) there is a problem: There is an IBM dds/3 12/24 GB tape drive
attached to the 2nd SCSI channel of the ServRAID. This drive is not
recognized when booting the server. There are device files for /dev/rmt/0*
but dmesg shows nothing nor does prtconf. You cant see a vendor message
or something like that as well.

dmesg looks like:

mscsi-device: mscsi0
mscsi-device: mscsi1
mscsi-device: mscsi2
Disk28: <Vendor 'IBM     ' Product 'Raid-5          '>
cmdk28 at pci1014,2e0: target 0 lun 0

Disk29: <Vendor 'IBM     ' Product 'Raid-5          '>
cmdk29 at pci1014,2e0: target 1 lun 0

Disk30: <Vendor 'IBM     ' Product 'Raid-5          '>
cmdk30 at pci1014,2e0: target 2 lun 0

Disk31: <Vendor 'IBM     ' Product 'Raid-5          '>
cmdk31 at pci1014,2e0: target 3 lun 0

In chs.conf I found a remark that one has to add a line in mscsi.conf
for each scsi channel with devices attached. I think that might help
(at least I would give it a try), but I cant find any docs about
mscsi and mscsi.conf.

Useful hints would make my nights sleep a lot healthier since we run
the machine without backup (no tape drive, you know).
