HP states in its www pages that its deskjet printers aren't suited
for UNIX environments and ignores that those printers may be of
interest for personal UNIX like LINUX or for at situ printers
that perform small printouts or lovely color prints directly at
your workstation. The newer printer generation has only 2 buttons;
distributing Windows software seems to be cheaper. Also, the
poor manual doesn't give any information how to write a small
interface program. Hence:
Has anyone written a Linux operatable program (c, perl, sh, tcl ...)
that performs those things that the HP Windows program does?
On our LAN we installed a net printer HP Laserjet 5 SI NX. HP
gives installation aid for a couple of UNIX OS's; however I
couldn't find any software for LINUX. Is there anywhere software
for printing on that net printer via my LINUX machine?
Thanks
Albert
