I am trying to find an "all in one" usb flash media adapter that will work
under SuSE Linux 8.0pro , and wonder if anyone has any suggestions .

It needs to be capable of Compact Flash , Smart Media and MultiMedia Card
access .

I am not sure if it is useable under Linux but the Dazzle dm8400 is a real
nice unit as far as features , anyone have any ideas ?

tia for any input :)

Uno! makes several products; I believe they have a multi-format unit - I
have their CF reader; works great.

Thanks for the link, helped out well , and found the dazzle unit on the
list , though no input as to how to make it work , hope it won't be a
hassle, usb seems to still be touch and go ...

Thanks again !

Well in followup to my original post , I ended up going with the Dazzle
brand (SCM Microsystems), but when I went to the local Compusa store to
purchase it the original model dm-8400 was not available (geeze that
was fast) :^(

So after some quiet deliberation as to whether the new model (6-in-1 dm-21200)
would work under Linux , I decided to gamble, spring for it ($49) and a
lexar mmc card , went home plugged it into my SuSE box and -bang- it
recognized it , automatically made a mount point for me (/media/sdf1) and
I am ready to go !
And it recognized my smart media card for my camera as well.

Since I already had the usb-storage module setup for my digital camera,
that part was not necessary, so it was truly a plug-n-play (yecchh)
experience :^)

Thanks all for the input , just thought I would let others know that this
model anyway works great with SuSE 8.0 :)

1. flash media reader support , will this one work?

I am looking at possibly buying one of the Dazzle DM-8400 6-in-one card
readers (neat spec's) that has a usb interface , now since I was
originally burned on my smart media reader (no Linux support), I don't
want to make the same mistake again , so I was wondering if anyone knows
if this particular device will work in Linux .
I have already emailed the manufacturer letting them know they need to
make drivers for linux as that is what I use at home.

Be kind , I am not a coder/programmer/hacker , so I haven't a clue as to
how I would go about making it work if it didn't have support , I just
need to know if there is a loadable module that will make it look like a
scsi device so I am able to access my Zaurus data from the multimedia/cf
card I plan on buying for it ...

Where would one go to find out if this device was supported in Linux ?

tia for any help :^}
