Very Computer

Hi, I'm running RedHat 4.2 on an IBM ValuePoint. I've got it installed
and all is working well apart from X.

The problem is, when I run startx, X starts to load, switches to a black
screen and freezes. The computer totally hard locks.

The video is onboard on the IBM ValuePoints, and it's an S3-805 w/ an
AT&T20C490 RAMDAC
I'ce set all this up using the XConfigurator and it still freezes. X
-probeonly seems to run fine also.

The monitor on the PC is an IBM 6324 SVGA. Can anyone help?

I don't think this is documented anywhere, but I once had the misfortune
of playing with one of those and had the same problem. Adding the:

Option "nolinear"

to the XF86Config file in the "Device" section seemed to fix the problem.
Too bad IBM likes to make nearly everything with some sort of slight
incompatibility.
