Does Linux run on the DEC Alpha chips?

I have searched all the Linux newsgroups from www.linux.org and
have not found any mention of the DEC Alpha.

Most certainly. We have a DEC AlphaStation 250 running it right now. :)

Well, support is still a little iffy in places, as most of the Linux
community is Intel-based. But it does exist. Try these for starters:

http://www.redhat.com
They released Redhat Linux 4.1 for the Alpha in February. It's not as
smooth as their Intel release, but does work quite well.

As close to a Linux/Alpha homepage I've seen so far.

There is a mailing list at vger.rutgers.edu, subscribe by sending a message

"subscribe linux-alpha" in the message body.
