The SMART logic on the disk takes care of bad blocks, the file system
doesn't need to know about them. If you want to make sure that all of the
bad blocks have been mapped out you should dismount the disk and run
badblocks in the non-destructive rw mode, that will read and write every
block on the disk. If there is a problem with a block the disk will map it
out. Badblocks in non-destructive mode is very very slow, expect it to
take 2 days on a larg disk. Badblocks in destructive write/read mode is
faster but that will require you to reformat the disk after it's done.
