Adaptec 2920 and AMD K5/133

Post by WS » Fri, 10 Jan 1997 04:00:00

Hello:
I am trying to install linux red hat 4.0 in a MAD K5-133 with an adaptec
2920 SCSI card, but i have three problems:
1. Linux do not detect the adaptec 2920 it says hosts=0
We have run with the future domain driver 16x0, ok.
2. When linux is copying the files from the CD, the systems hangs.

Is there any incompatibility with this scsi card, or with the AMD k5-133

Thankyou form Mexico.

At www.redhat.com it talks about detection problems with the 2940 and they
give you the URL for a disk to download to fix those installation problems.

That kernel is completely useless for the Adaptec 2920.  I believe that
the 2920 is essentially a Future Domain card just with their name on it.
(I think that they bought Future Domain as well)

It works fine for me.

1. RH7.0 inst on AST w/ AMD K5-133

Hi Folks;
I'm trying to an install redhat 7.0 on an older ast with the above proc. I'm
getting a crash as soon as /sbin/loader starts from either the cd or the
floppy. It says that there was an invalid EIP. Sounds like deep hardware
problems. Same thing at the same point happens if I try to install Caldera
2.4 .

I've got two drives a 1080MByte primary master & a 6488MByte primary slave.
48MByte memory.

Does anyone have a clue as to what is happening?

Thx
Drew
