changed hard drive to HDE and sound won't work

Hi there,
To all who aren't familiar with my other post. ... I have an ata 100 tx2
controller from promise. While I had my HD plugged into the IDE slot, I
compiled and installed the drivers for my sound car. things worked ok. When
I finally got the ATA controller working with the HD, now (/dev/hde) the
sound card stopped working. Any explanations for this?

you might have changed the irqs.  play around with letting the moboard
pick them (probably the wrong option) and letting linux assign them.
you can control moboard thru the bios.
