Panasonic ZIP-100 drive problems

Post by Henry Leparska » Sat, 27 Nov 1999 04:00:00

I have an internal Panasonic (Matsushita Corp.) IDE ZIP-100 drive.
System is Redhat 6.0 distribution.

At boot, I see that the ZIP gets autodetected as /dev/hdb1.

I run 'fdisk' on this to partition , and then 'mk2efs' to format the
partition. All goes well.

However, when I mount /dev/hdb1 as an 'ext2' filesystem, the directory
looks strange, and I can't access it:

A directory listing of /mnt/zip looks like:

?--------- zip          Dec 31 1969

Because I get no errors in partitioning and formatting, I'm not sure
where to begin to debug this. It looks as if it doesn't understand the
file system.

        Thanks,
                        Henry

1. Iomega external zip-100 drive problem

Hi !

I carfully read the zip drive mini-howto.
My kernel is configured correctly (well, I think so) :
SCSI SUPPORT : Y
SCSI DISK SUPPORT : Y
IOMEGA PARALLEL PORT (ppa - older drives) : M
IOMEGA PARALLEL PORT (imm - newer drives) : M
ppa/imm option - Use slow (but safe) EPP-16 : N
ppa/imm option - Assume slow parport control register : N
Parallel printer support : M

I'm running on rh-linux 6.2
I killed lpd.
And then :

Using /lib/modules/2.2.14-5.0/scsi/ppa.o
/lib/modules/2.2.14-5.0/scsi/ppa.o: unresolved symbol
parport_enumerate_Rdcb625ab
/lib/modules/2.2.14-5.0/scsi/ppa.o:
unresolved symbol parport_claim_R46138e04
/lib/modules/2.2.14-5.0/scsi/ppa.o: unresolved symbol
parport_register_device_Ra78805aa
/lib/modules/2.2.14-5.0/scsi/ppa.o: unresolved symbol
parport_unregister_device_R857406d1 /lib/modules/2.2.14-5.0/scsi/ppa.o:
unresolved symbol parport_release_Re207d4f8

What's wrong ?

Thank you
