Anyone ever heard of an AIC-6030 SCSI controller ?

Anyone ever heard of an AIC-6030 SCSI controller ?

Post by Gabriel L. Soml » Sat, 22 Nov 1997 04:00:00

Hi. I've got a Toshiba Satellite Pro T2400CS laptop. I managed to
install Linux on it, and it works great. The only thing I can't use
is the SCSI Port.

The manual says it's an Adaptec AIC-6030 SCSI controller, and there's
no reference to it throughout the kernel sources, config. files, etc.
(It's kernel 2.0.30, BTW).

Does anybody know anything about this ? is it covered by another Adaptec
driver ? I'd appreciate any input...

Thanks for reading this,

Gabriel Somlo

Ya, I believe the aha152x driver works just swell with that model.

1. Anyone hear of this SCSI Controller....

I have been looking at upgrading to SCSI for some time and
have been looking for a good, reasonably inexpensive SCSI
controller. Right now I am looking to get an external Zip
Drive (SCSI) but I
eventually want to also upgrade my hard drive (internal) up
to
SCSI (I don't want to corner my self here - I want
expandibility). I found one today at Best Buy (they just
started selling SCSI! - here anyway) but have never heard of
this controller. It is called the SIIG UltraSCSI Pro PCI,
Model
#SCSI360P. It is priced at $99. On the box it says that it
is compatible with just about everything (including
Unixware) and does have a bios on the controller with both
internal and external connections. Does anyone know anything
about this card? In particular, will this work with Linux (I
have Redhat 4.2 with Kernel 2.0.30)? I have decided not to
go with Adaptec because from what I have heard they don't
really support Linux (I know, I know... they do work on
Linux for the most part but they don't "support" Linux).
So far I have heard good things about BusLogic (Mylex).
If this SIIG controller won't work with Linux, could someone
give me some recommendations that match my needs please?

Thanks for any help that you have to offer. Please e-mail
any replys.
