Support for Tekram DC-390F PCI SCSI controller?

Post by Philip Saunders - Systems Engine » Thu, 16 May 1996 04:00:00

Hi!

I have a Tekram DC-390F PCI SCSI controller card in a new P166.
The latest linux bootdisks can't identify it. Does anyone know
if there is linux support for it yet?

"/proc/pci" reports the following:

PCI Devices found :
Bus  0 Device   0 Function  0.
Host bridge : Intel 82437FX Triton (rev 2).
Bus  0 Device   7 Function  0.
    ISA bridge : Intel 82371FB (rev 2).
Bus  0 Device  13 Function  0.
VGA display controller : Cirrus Logic GD 5430 (rev 34).
                             8259's interrupt 9.

If anyone could help me out here, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Check out the Tekram home page (http://www.tekram.com)
They have several boot disks to help Linux recognize the dc-390xx
The justice is made to reassure those who don't have to deal with it.

I tried to d/load them last week... the gz files fail with bad CRC :(
 Never mind, upgrade to a newer kernel! I'm on 2.0pre6 (i.e. 1.99.6)
works like a charm. Compile a kernel with support for AM53C974 SCSI.
Make sure you add the right "append=" for lilo  (or loadlin), for my
Toshiba 4x CDROM (on ID 1, 4MHz async, 15 byte offset)
I have   append = "AM53C974=7,1,4,15"   otherwise the defaults cause
booting to fail, with register dumps and diagnostic error messages...
I think AM53C974 support was added around 1.3.4x. If you're upgrading
from 1.2.13, you'll need to upgrade rather a lot of stuff:
    http://www2.nether.net/~jared/victim.html
 should get you sorted.

 regards,
  Conor.

1. multiple tekram DC-390F cards supported?

I am about ready to order two PCI SCSI cards so that I can attach 2 tape
drives (external - narrow) and an internal (narrow) ZIP drive to one
SCSI channel, and 2 external (UW) disk drives to the other channel.  (I
don't want to slow down disk access when I'm using the <5MB/second
transfer rate tape drives.)

Does the Linux Tekram driver, "scsiiom.c" support multiple DC-390F PCI
cards in the same chassis?

Or, if someone has an inexpensive dual channel SCSI card they could
recommend, I'd love to hear about it.  (But I want an internal 50 pin
connection to my ZIP drive.)

Please send me email as well as posting your reply.

Thanks!
