Where to buy K6-200?

Post by Mark Webst » Sun, 05 Oct 1997 04:00:00

Hello All,

I was wondering if somebody could suggest a seller of the AMD K6-200 who
will supply a CPU with a serial number greater than B9730xxx (or even the
C revision ?). Apparently, a CPU with a serial number greater than this
doesn't have the "rare bug" affecting Linux systems that perform kernel
recompiles with more than 32Meg of RAM.

Some suppliers will be too lazy to check, and will send you what ever
K6-200 they currently have in stock. Others, will say "yeah, we have that",
and send you what ever CPU they have in stock. This is what I don't want.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I live in Indiana.

Thanks,

Mark.

FWIW, I bought a K6-233 from http://www.leapfroglab.com/ over a month ago,
and it was a B 9731xxx - it doesn't have the bug. I guess they don't have
the buggy chips in stock.
