LS-120 & Audio PCI

LS-120 & Audio PCI

Post by Massimo Carbon » Tue, 08 Dec 1998 04:00:00

Hi gurus,

I've some problem to configure my new HW, in particular with the
configuration of my LS 120 drive and my Audio PCI card. My system
configuration is quite complete:

MB: ASUS P2B-DS ===> http://www.asus.com/products/Specs/MB/p2b-ds-Spec.asp
CPU: 2 Pentium II x 400 Mhz
HD:  1 Quantum 9.1 GB
GA: 1 Matrox Millennium G200 AGP 8MB
Eth: 3com 905 10/100
Fdd: 1 Floppy disk 1.44 MB
LS120: attacched on ide0
Audio: Ensoniq AudioPCI

I've installed Linux RH5.2, the only RH version that see the U2W scsi
interface. The sistem works properly with both CPUs without any problem.

The problems that I found comes with the configuration of the LS120 and
the Audio.

LS120) at the boot time the system will return the messages. I tryed
       with different kernel version, also 2.1.130 without success.

<!-- ------------------------------------------------------- -->
% dmesg | less

ide: i82371 PIIX (Triton) on PCI bus 0 function 33
    ide0: BM-DMA at 0xd800-0xd807
    ide1: BM-DMA at 0xd808-0xd80f
hda: ASUS CD-S400, ATAPI CDROM drive
hdb:  ?, ATAPI Type 31 - Unknown device
ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 1.44M

<!-- ------------------------------------------------------- -->
The LS120 will work properly under windows 95.
Could some one help me or give me a suggestion?

Cheers,
        Massimo C.

LS-120 & Audio PCI

The Audio PCI is supported by 4Front Technologies OSS Linux driver.
(http://www.4front-tech.com).  Unfortunately, the free version won't
support it, only the commercial verion, the last time I checked (I be-
lieve it's around 30$).

1. Making a boot disk with LS-120 (was Re: LS-120 clicking)

Hi-

On a related note, and probably a FAQ:

my laptop only has an LS-120 drive. How can I make a boot disk?
mkbootdisk doesn't work, since it lives at /dev/hdc not a /dev/fd*

Thanks,

Andrew
