I'm trying to get my new modem working with linux. I've followed the
ppp-howto and when I type "ppp-on" the modem calls and stuff(Makes all
kinda sounds -- just like it should).
But then nothing happens! -- and it times out. I can't telnet or ping --
it won't recognize any host. And if I type /sbin/ifconfig it shows
nothing... no lo or ppp or nothing. I think this is the problem. So my
question is: how is the network supposed to be set up before using ppp?.
The thing is I used to be connected to a network and then I moved? and I
can't remember how to cange things back to how they were before!.
