I am new to linux. I plan to build a Server using Debian Linux. Any
suggestions about the most stable motherboard to use ?
Thanks in advance !

I have an ASUS mobo based on an ATI chipset that "supports" 4GB; but
after I installed that much, I found that BIOS only sees 3.17GB, since
the rest of the address space is used by BIOS for devices.
I know the nForce4 SLI X16 supports memory swap to cure that problem, as
do the Intel 955X and 975X, but I'm not sure about the Ultra.
Thanks,
Mark

nVidia likes to use Marvell onboard LAN - does Linux support it well?
How about nVidia GeForce video cards?
I'm trying to work out the best-supported hardware for a moderate to
high-end system; any other hardware compatibility advice you can give
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

Gigabit ethernet is a Yukon model, made by Marvell, uses the skge driver;
megabit is an nVidia nForce2, uses the forcedeth driver.
Both were detected by Mandrake 10.2, by Mandriva 2006, by Ubuntu 5.10 (my
distrib as of today).
Beef.
1. Linux PCI Pentium Motherboard recommendation sought
Hi,
I am in desperate need of a new motherboard for my PC. I have decided
to purchase a PCI system with a Pentium chip. I am looking for a high
quality reliable PCI motherboard. Unfortunately, I do not know what to get.
I am leaning towards one made by ASUS (SP4-SiS -or- ASUS-PCI-I/SP3G).
I have read the PCI-HOWTO faq but it contains very little information
regarding PCI pentium systems. I would very much appreciate any advice or
recomendations about a Pentium PCI motherboard for Linux. I will also post
a summary.
Thanks,
