Gigabyte 8knxp speaker chirps?

Gigabyte 8knxp speaker chirps?

Post by Neil » Wed, 22 Oct 2003 10:56:49

My 8knxp system will occasionally "chirp" the speaker. Usually in pairs,
occasionally just a single. As far as I can tell the system is running
normally.
Anybody have any ideas what's causing the chirping sound?

System:

Gigabyte 8knxp
512M ECC RAM
ATI RAGE PRO PCI video card
Promise Tx2 ATA133 controllers (two of them)

Maybe a high temperature alarm going off

Either you have the alarm temperature set just above normal,
or, the alarm goes off unreasonably.

Try going into bios and trying to find a setting to set the alarm
temperature higher,

Or it could be like an email program or  a system log program beeping.

1. Chirps when playing sounds ;-(

I'm getting these annoying chirps at the beginning and end of
sound files (wav and au).  I'm using the voxware drivers on 3.O RELEASE
with a Sound blaster AWE64.  Would switching to the luigi drivers remedy
this problem?  Thanks, James.
