Cox Cable installing a cable modem

Cox Cable is coming to install a cable modem as part of a new cable TV
service. Anyone have any experience running Linux on this type of
equipment?

I'm not sure if internal versions even exist.  Its probably an external
and probably connects to your system via a 10baseT cable.  In that
case, you would need a 10baseT network adapter in your PC.  The only
support needed for linux in terms of hardware is just a properly
configured network driver for whatever network card you have/will have.
Connecting to your cable provider under linux will be something you'll
have to discuss with your cable service, or find someone else with
the same provider that already has it working with linux.  With Warner
Cable's Road Runner service, I found related newsgroups set up
specifically for connecting through linux, which was quite a nice
surprise.
