Muliple monitors, one X server?

Muliple monitors, one X server?

Post by Rod B. Nussbaume » Thu, 09 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Is there any way to have an X server running under Linux, that
supports multiple monitors, and treats them like a large (wide)
virtual screen?

We are presently doing this under Win98 with Hummingbird X server,
but would like to improve stability.  The existing system
frequently has 20-30 (or more) X windows open concurrently.
Re-boots are at least daily, to restore speed, and correct
functionality.  This is an operator console of a largish
control system.

Thanks in advance for any advice, anecdotal experience, pointers
to reference material, etc.

1. muliple domain addresses on one server?

We are currently trying to configure a system that will take mail for
a domain that is not the current domain of the system:

our ISP would not let us register a name as it was already in use by
another site., they have provided a service whereby mail to our
desired email name( the one we wanted as a domain name) is forwarded
to our system with our assigned name.

our host name:

our email name:

incoming mail has the address:

our system is tau1, and subsequently attempts to remail/forward these
messages over smtp.

Please does anybody know how to do this?
