Netmos Nm9835cV serial card

Netmos Nm9835cV serial card

Post by Laurence Luri » Sat, 14 Sep 2002 05:27:07

I have been trying to install a netmos Nm9835cV serial card on a red hat
7.3 system.  The netmos web page has a driver that they claim works with
Red hat 7.2, but they make no promises with 7.3.  I have run the
installation (a program called netmosconf), and everything seems OK.
However, I can't get any communication over the serial port.   Does
anyone have any experience using this card with this version of the OS?
Any suggestions for what to do?

I used netmos NM9845 serial card.
In my exp, It needs some patch to kernel.
Filename is "serial.c"
There are many setting to various serial card.
Im my case, I apply below patch.
Do not believe this patch.

It's only my exp about a 9845 not a 9835.
In my think, 9835 has 2 serial and 1 parallel. Is it right?
For you serial card, there are some patch.

pray to succeed.

1. Trying to install a serial card with a Netmos 9845 Chipset

I inherited a SYBA PCI 32 bit 4 port serial card with a Netmos 9845
chipset, and I'm trying to install it in my Dell Dimension 8100
running Redhat 7.1 with a 2.4.3 kernel.  When I installed the hardware
and booted, the Redhat boot process recognized that I installed new
hardware, but called it an unknown device and asked me what I wanted to
do.  I clicked on Configure and the system came up normally.

When I checked my dmesg output, I saw that only ttyS00 was listed
(there is one serial port on the motherboard) and assumed my kernel
did not recognize the card.  I searched the newsgroups for other
questions about this card, looked in the HARDWARE-Howto and
SERIAL-Howto, and searched the Documentation that came with my kernel
without finding a solution.

I would appreciate any advice that could help me get this card
working on my system or a suggestion for some documentation I could
look at.
