ati all-in-wonder pro 128

Post by Mark Lybarge » Thu, 23 Aug 2001 11:12:03

hi,

i've got an ati all-in-wonder pro 128 video card, and a fresh install of
RH 7.1.  i'd like to be able to watch/record t.v on the thing. is this
possible? i've tried to install the video4linux drivers (probably didn't
quite get this right), and the xawtv from source. are there any good
how-to's on getting these drivers installed/configured?

the xawtv keeps giving errors accessing /dev/video0. the directory does
exist, but maybe there needs to be a driver hooked up to the device?
are there any distros out there that let this card work out of the box?
at this point, since the RH install is fairly new, i'm willing to give a
new distro a try if it will help.

Linux Journal did an article on xawtv sometime back.
you might try their website.

I have this card running along with xawtv and the only thing that does not
work is dri, which I understand has been fixed, I just have not had the
time to install new kernel module.  Make sure you are using the
video4linux drivers meant for your version of XFree86.  if you are using
the 4.1 video4linux driver and your X install is 4.0.3, you will have
problems.

My install was easy.  I just carefully installed as per instructions on
Gatos home page.  My distro is mandrake 8.0 with kernel 2.4.3.  I'd be
happy to respond to any aother issues you have, just drop me a line.
