Buslogic 948 scsi card

Buslogic 948 scsi card

Post by Lakhinder Wal » Thu, 08 Feb 1996 04:00:00

I recently tried Buslogic 948 after upgrading it with the latest
firmware-- as suggested by Leonard-- 5.04b. It booted well with my
slackware 2.3. And also with slackware 3.0.
(The option for ISA compatible mode should be switched to 'Alternate')
Have not finished installation yet. I am new to Linux.

(History:
I had bought a Flashpoint card recently, and later a friend told me
that it won't work with LINUX. The store would not take the card back,
since it was more than a month ago.

Then a really good thing happened, and I saw Leonard's announcement
about the replacement plan from Buslogic whereby I bought a new BT948
for $45 + returning the FP. They had firmware 5.01o on it. These folks
at Buslogic were cooperative, and they put out 5.04b on the BBS. )

If you install the new BusLogic driver, you can switch the ISA
compatibility mode back to Disabled, since the driver will recognize and
use the PCI assigned ports.

1. BusLogic BT-948 SCSI card and 3C590 Etherlink III card

I have installed Linux kernel 2.0.0 with Slackware 3.1 on a Gateway
 PPro 200. I have a BusLogic BT-948 card and a 3C590 Ethernet card.
Drivers for both are configured into my Linux kernel. Upon booting,
The SCSI card is recognized, and the Ethernet card is detected.
However, ifconfig does not recognize the ethernet connection.

If I disconnect the BT-948 card, ifconfig recognizes the Ethernet card.

The IRQ for the BusLogic and the 3C590 cards = 10. These values are
set at the factory and cannot be modified with the respective setup
 programs.

Is this IRQ conflict the source of my problems ? Is there a workaround
 available ?

                    Thanks
