Linux box won't bootup

Post by AJ Lewi » Thu, 10 Sep 1998 04:00:00

I'm having a serious problem with one of my Linux boxes.  When I turn it on,
the lights all come on, but it doesn't beep, and it doesn't send any signal
to the monitor.  If I pull apart the system and push all the cards and chips
down to try to reseat them, it usually starts back up again and boots.
(Nothing feels loose when I do this.)  Does anyone have any suggestions as
to how to troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks,
AJ Lewis

Oh...sorry.  The box is an ATX Tyan S1692D Dual P2 board with 2 P2-266s.  We
have 1 128MB DIMM in it, a 3.1GB Western Digital HD on Primary Master, a
Trident 9680 2MB PCI vid card, Intel 8460B PCI NIC...Personally I think the
board is bad.  Any other ideas?

Thanks,
AJ Lewis
