Adaptec AIX 7880 SCSI errors

Post by Eddy H. K » Sat, 24 Oct 1998 04:00:00

I've installed RH 5.1 on a Dell machine at work.  The on-board SCSI controller
is apparently an Adaptec.  I've played around with the three termination
settings in the SCSI bios, and finally choose the third one which seemed
to stop the "aborting command" errors.  But under heavy disk use, I still
see it occasionally.  Anyone know what this means and how to fix it?

1. Dual SCSI Cards - Adaptec 7880 & 7890

Guys,

I have new Dell Precision 410.  It's a dual Pentium II with two
SCSI cards - one is an Adaptec 7880 and the other is an Adaptec 7890.
The CDROM is on the 7880 and the hard disk is on the 7890.

I'm trying to install Slackware 3.5 and the boot disk only sees the
7880.  Is there a driver for the 7890?  Any idea where to get it?

Please cc any replies to me.

Thanks,
Mark
