Does anybody know of solutions to get access to the different
trays in multi-tray printers through /etc/printcap. I've seen
(we have a lexmark, and also a Tektronix Phaser 540(?))
around us and they use different WinXX drivers via PCL setup strings,
yet these printers also understand postscript, and wonder if you
could cheat them out of doing this via postscript with a PCL
setup string?
From the looks of it under windows it didn't look like one
could make different printer configurations, as this stuff
was all hidden in some other menu, and in fact, for some
applications you could only get access to a specific tray
and not from the generic printer drivers in MyComputer. I
don't know enough WinXX if that makes sense, or if one could
reconfigure those to allow different "drivers" to access
different trays on the same printer.
Our printers are all configured as network printers anyways. I don't
know if that makes a lot of difference for linux.
