I'm currently using XFree86 3.1 with Linux 1.1.8x and the Spea V7-Mirage P64
2MB card (PCI version, Micronics M54Pi Mainboard) with the following device
entry in XF86Config:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Spea Mirage P64 2MB"
VendorName "Unknown"
BoardName "Unknown"
VideoRam 2048
ClockChip "ICS2595"
EndSection
The S3 accelerated server recognizes all other parameters like RAMDAC type and
S3 chipset type itself. I only had to specify the "ClockChip" line to make it
work. My monitor timings are the following:
Modeline "640x480" 31.5 640 680 720 864 480 488 491 521
Modeline "800x600" 50 800 856 976 1040 600 637 643 666 +hsync +vsync
Modeline "1024x768" 85 1024 1032 1152 1360 768 784 787 823
I think these are the VESA standard timings for these resolutions (for a 64kHz
Monitor). There is a big listing of video timings shipped with XFree86 so I
only listed the ones I use.
My Screen Section's like this:
Section "Screen"
Driver "accel"
Device "Spea Mirage P64 2MB"
Monitor "Diamond P766D"
# Subsection "Display"
# Depth 8
# Modes "640x480" "800x600" "1024x768"
# ViewPort 0 0
# Virtual 1024 768
# EndSubsection
Subsection "Display"
Depth 16
Modes "1024x768" "800x600"
ViewPort 0 0
Virtual 1024 768
EndSubsection
EndSection
It's currently configured for HiColor. If you want to use 256 colors,
uncomment the concerning lines. I didn't find a way to change the color depth
while XFree86 is running. The resolution can be changed with
<Ctrl>+<Alt>+<+>/<-> on the numeric keypad.
I must say that I am running it at 16bpp as I have some problems with the 256
color mode: the vertical lines on the screen seem to have different widths.
The problem does'nt occur if you use 16bpp color depth. When I'm running
Windows, there aren't any problems. I don't know where it comes from...
But as the 16bpp work fine, and the card's pretty fast, I don't care.
So, bye for now!
