NewCom 56kefxC external modem

Post by liquidF » Sat, 18 Nov 2000 04:00:00

I got an old NewCom 56kefxC Atlas Peripherals external modem. It is
sooooooooo slow under Mandrake and Caldera. I had to use a 25 pin to 9 pin
adapter cable. could this be why. How can this be overcome? A 56k modem is a
56k modem isn't it? Can anyone suggest a solution or help? Thanks.

Atlas periphals or newcom were the modems that were marketed by and for best
buy.  All the ones I ever saw  were pre .v90, thier bios could be flashed,
however I noticed almost no improvement in my internal one.  So I bought a
3com USR external modem.
