Low!
I am currently using (well, trying to use...) a Philips roaster on an
Adaptec 2940UW with cdrecord-1.4.
The problem:
It does not work under Linux!!
I can burn CDRs with Gear/Win *shudder* with *zero* problems, but when I
try the same under Linux, the CDRs are *only* readable by burners but
not by trivial CD-readers!!
I ruined a big bunch *sigh* of CDRs under Linux, even tried different
configurations (en-/disable disconnect, checked/changed termination,
different writing software [cdrecord, xcdroast/cdwrite], etc.), but no
chance (under DOS it works always...).
IMHO there is something wrong with the "fixation" under Linux, and it
has something to do with the AHA2940UW kernel drivers, because
a) if I burn a multi-session (for example!) CDR under Linux, it is not
readable by any CD-drive, but when I then write a second session on this
CDR under Gear/Win, both session work correctly on every CD-drive !?!
Although, when I try the option "Just Fixate a CDR" Gear says something
like "There is no unfixed session on this CDR!"
b) other people are not having any trouble using cdrecord and the
CDD2600, but they use other controllers like NCR, etc.
c) it works under DOS with exactly my configuration!
Did anyone have the same experiences? Maybe solved the problem??
Desparately
Michael

p.p.s.: sorry about my poor english, I am out of training :-)
