Linux crashes after 40-64MB mem upgrade

Post by Brian Kram » Sat, 20 Jan 1996 04:00:00

After I installed 64 megs ram (4x36 simms) in my JX30 micronucs motherboard and got them in the right order so the machine recognized it I got messages about referencing a null pointer.  I can't figure out what I am doing wrong...anyone
have any ideas?

Linux crashes after 40-64MB mem upgrade

I had the same problem, albiet with a different motherboard and after
exhaustive testing which showed the ram okay, the BIOS recognized, etc,
it turned out that one of the sims was EDO and hence didn't have the
same timing requirements as the slower sims. When replaced, all was
okay.

A possibility.

1. Lilo "L 40 40 40 40 40 40..."

Greetings,

I have set up a Linux From Scratch system on a 1.2Gb Maxtor hard drive. It
works fine on my two Athlon systems, but when I put the drive in my Pentium
100, the system results in "L 40 40 40 40 40 40..." before showing the Lilo
menu.

My Lilo.conf contains the "lba32" entry which should mean this would work,
but it doesn't.

Any ideas?

Regards,
Jon
