Kensington Expert Mouse Pro, button problem?

Hi!

Got a new mouse (Trackball), accidentally not the one ordered but
another one from Kensington (Expert Mouse Pro - 64213). Due to
the fact that this is the third time I ordered this mouse from
another reseller and got the wrong, returned the first two, so I
decided to keep this one.

The Device has 4 regular buttons next to the trackball and one
scroll wheel that can be pressed as button, making it a 7 button
mouse.

This is the Section of XF86Config which works best until now:

        Identifier  "Mouse0"
        Driver      "mouse"
        Option      "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
        Option      "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
        Option      "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
        Option      "Buttons" "7"
        Option      "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
        Option      "SendCoreEvents"  "true"

In addition to 'xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 3 2 6 7 4 5"'. To get the
lower right button mapped to the "middle" mouse button, still not
ideal, only workaround.

Can't get the upper right mouse button working, I'd like to map
to the "middle" mouse button. Whatever tried, 'xev' doesn't show
any event on the upper right mouse button.

Strange enough the trackball has 6! additional buttons adding to
the "usual" 7 buttons, making it a 13 button mouse, but alas even
configuring that doesn't make the upper right button working or
any of the 6 additional buttons.

Toyed around with 'imwheel' but that didn't got me anywhere.

If anyone has this device working, it'll be great to see the
concerning section of your XF86Config and additional xmodmap
modifier.

Seems to be solved:

Switching to USB instead of PS/2 while enhancing

         Option      "Buttons" "13"

And using:

xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 7 3 6 2 4 5 8 9 10 11 12"

Makes the upper right mouse button working. xev even notices 2 of
the 6 additional buttons now, don't care about them anyway.;)

1. getting 3 button emulation in redhat linux 8.0 for kensington expert mouse

hello,

i recently upgraded from redhat 7.3 to 8.0 and i am really surprised
to find that the 3 button
emulation for my kensington expert mouse (the one with 4 buttons and a
big trackball) no longer works.  with 7.3 it used to work if you
pressed the lower left+right or the upper left+right buttons together.

i've tried to confiure this will all sorts of combinations --- generic
ps/2, kensington ps/2 ... but with no results.

without this simple things like a copy and paste from an xterm are
impossible ...

any help would be much appreciated.
