How does that answer the above question?
Also, have you tried SMP on your motherboard yet?
And if so, what Mhz Pentium chips are using?

i am running slackware 3.0, kernel 2.0.0, 430hx chipset, 1.6gig western
digital hd. linux is supporting my 430hx as a 430fx and is using the bus
mastering abilities.. i am getting 6mb/sec. (hdparm -t /dev/hda)

hope this helps

1. Modular IDE Build Failing Without Modular Generic PCI bus-master DMA support

Under 2.4.20, "Generic PCI bus-master DMA support"
could be built into the kernel (modular was never an option),
and IDE could link modular, as for use in an OS-less
NFS/Samba file server.  Is modular IDE with DMA still broken,
since Generic PCI bus-master DMA support can't be a module?

make modules_install

mkdir -p pcmcia; \
find kernel -path '*/pcmcia/*' -name '*.o' | xargs -i -r ln -sf ../{} pcmcia
