I have a big problem right now, that is, my computer is not working with
Adaptec 2940UW.
I'll give my computer's specification as follows.
Motherboard : GA-586IP
Chip : Pentium-90
BIOS : ROM PCI/ISA BIOS (2A59AG01)
CMOS SETUP UTILITY
AWARD. INC
AWARD Modular BIOS v4.50G 1984-94
Neptune PCI-ISA BIOS for Pentium(TM) 90/100MHz ver.1.6
Controller : BT-X10A IDE CASHING CONTROLLER w/8Mb
Adaptec AHA-2940UW
FUTURE DOMAIN TMC-1610M (16-Bit ISA SCSI Controller)
Hard drive : MICROPOLIS 4110A IDE (1GB)
Seagate BARRACUDA 4 Family ST15150W (wide scsi) (4GB)
Video Card : ATI mach 64 WIN TURBO w/4Mb VRAM (PCI)
CD-ROM drive : PLEXTOR 4PLEX(quad speed) PX-43CH Internal (SCSI)
Monitor : NEC Multigraph 447X 17-inch
Modem : 28,800 USRobotics V.34 (Internal)
Sound card : Sound Blaster AWE 32
I'm not going to use BT-X10A IDE CONTROLLER, TMC-1610M ISA SCSI Controller
and MICROPOLIS IDE Hard drive(1GB).
Anyway, AHA-2940UW is not working properly with my computer.
You know why?
At first, I tried that without IDE controller, IDE hard drive and ISA SCSI
controller.
That is, I tried this with just SCSI things as you know.
I put AHA-2940UW on PCI slot 1.
But it doesn't work unfortunately.
Actually, my computer stuck before CMOS SETUP appears.
Nothing is on monitor screen.
I think there is conflicts with other peripherals(video card or something)
or maybe motherboard can't support AHA-2940UW.
After that, I tried PCI slot 2. Result is same as before.
And tried PCI slot 3. Fortunately COMS SETUP appears. But stuck also.
When I tried PCI slot 3 with IDE controller and IDE hard drive, that is,
booting from IDE not SCSI as you know, finally I saw the prompt " Press
<Ctrl><A> for SCSISelect(TM) Utility! " as you know.
But my computer hang after that.
I tried PCI slot 4, but computer hang also.
I bought AHA-2940UW and Seagate 4GB hard drive today.
Those are not cheap as you know.
Maybe I'm gonna be crazy because I can't use those right now.
Please help me.
