HELP:IDE CD-ROM BIG Problem

Hi,
   I'm trying to install an IDE CD-ROM using a sound card  
(Kiss Tech Audio Pro Green 16 PnP Sound Card). I did disable
the PnP using jumpers on the board. I'm using Sony CDU76E IDE
CD-ROM. The card/cdrom work ok under DOS. I have a mother
board with 1 IDE-interface-Primary(ide0). So, I assume the
Sound card should work as Secondary-IDE-(ide1).

  The CD-ROM did work under Linux when I connected it as
Slave to my HD. But, it does not work when jumpered as Master
connected to the IDE interface on the Sound card. the following
is two syslog excerpts. The first when the CDROM is connected
as Slave to HD, the second when jumpered as Master and connected
to the Sound Card.

 First, the error generated when booting:

Linux cann't find the IRQ for the second IDE interface.

It looks like your sound card IDE interface isn't using irq 15, and
Linux is defaulting to it because it cann't find the right one
when it probes for it.  You will have to check your docs and find
the irq the board uses, and tell Linux.

ide1=0x170,0x376,15

Change the 15 to the one for your sound card.  Check the BootPrompt
HOWTO and the ide.txt file in the Documentation directory of your
kernel source for mor information.  I hope this helps!

1. Problems with 2nd IDE i/f and IDE CD-ROM on Compaq Presario CDS 972

Hello...I have a Compaq Presario CDS 972, with two IDE hard drives, and a IDE
CD-ROM drive...I have the two HD's hooked up to the first IDE interface.  No
problem with that.  However, I tried to hook my IDE CD-ROM (I beleive it's a
Mitsumi) to the 2nd IDE interface...neither DOS nor Linux recognizes that it's
even there.  Also, when I boot linux, I see:

ide0: primary interface on irq 14

But nothing about ide1.  How can I enable the second IDE interface?
